About the course…
Over a jam-packed day in the heart of London, Melissa will take you through everything you need to know to be a confident, competent, and talented Indoor Cycling instructor. This course is unique in that it gives you the knowledge to coach both rhythm and power. Whether your passion is for rhythm riding and choreography or performance riding and the science behind cycling, you’ll come away with everything you need to be a skilled and proficient coach. This includes a full working knowledge of musicality, choreography, power, and we debunk the science behind cycling.
Whatever you’re interested in, this course will give you the knowledge you need, plus more. It will also show you exactly what the top gyms around the world are looking for and then give you the skills to teach in any of them.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Your learning starts as soon as you book when you’re provided with the pre-course material, which will give you a solid background in Anatomy & Physiology (equivalent to a level 2). You’ll read this in your own time at a pace that works for you. You’ll also be guided through what you need to bring on the day, and a brief outline of what to expect.
The day itself runs from 10:00am until 4:00pm. You’ll learn A LOT. It’s a mixture of cycling and listening, and includes a sample class delivered by Melissa, so you can see first hand how it’s done.
At the end of the day, you’ll head off with a bursting brain, bruised buttocks, blossoming belief (and maybe bonus buddies). After you’ve taken it all in, there’s an online multiple choice quiz, and a practical assessment submitted by video whenever you’re ready (don’t worry, all this is explained in lots of detail on the course!).
What Happens Next?
On passing the course, you're guaranteed auditions for several studios that course founder Melissa works closely with. First, Gymbox; one of the biggest and most popular gyms in London, which has not just one but ten different locations. That gives you the chance to secure a LOT of classes straight out of the Academy. Secondly, Override; a brilliant boutique cycling studio in North London, which specialises in both rhythm and performance riding. Melissa is constantly in touch with most of the major cycling studios in London and is always being asked to recommend new talent, so if you’ve got your eye on working somewhere particular Melissa will more than likely be able to put you in touch. Landing a class, whether it be cover or permanent, straight out of the academy will set you up for an incredible start in indoor cycling and open the door for many more teaching opportunities. Your career starts here.
Where are they now?
You can find previous course attendees doing their thing studios across the UK, Europe, and the US. Including teaching at GymBox, Boom Cycle, 1Rebel, KXU, Override, The Third Space, Digme, Micycle, Doghouse Fitness, Tribeca and, of course, Melissa’s own studio - Cadence.
